I went for the latter because I wanted a smooth fan curve. You have two options if your like me: flip the bios switch on the card to the more aggressive fan profile or set your own fan curve with EVGA's PrecisionX or similar OC software. The fans are off till it gets to 60c or so. #Hover car command drivers#If you happen to be coming from that situation make sure to give priority to the card in bios and to run something like "Display Driver Uninstaller" to clean your Intel drivers in safemode before you use this card or you'll get a good scare lol. #Hover car command windows#was having issues with black screens logging into windows due to it thinking I had multiple monitors n such. getting rid of those Intel drivers was a major pain. So this card is pretty much built for me lol especially coming from the 560TI and my Haswell's built in HD4600. If you have something like the 770 then obviously this is not the card for you. I rather like that this card has its own chip rather then a "cutdown" version like the 970 has. Just be aware of the issue with the 970's memory design. the other Maxwells like the 970 and 980 will be more tempting for you. But, I personally am more interested in a durable card that is worth my hard earned money and will still be able to run any game well at my monitor's resolution. I'm sure a lot of you don't care that the advances in technology with this generation of cards focuses more on efficiency rather then raw power and there are indeed better performance/price ratio cards out there for you to buy. #Hover car command series#So pretty much the people upgrading from the GTX600 series down. #Hover car command 1080p#It's built to run games at 1080p has efficiently has possible and fill in that price gap for those that want a good card with all the bells and whistles without spending $300+ for a new card. This is not a card to please people looking for every last FPS. Maxwell chips are so frigging efficient! Not much of a performance difference from the 285 obviously lol. Due to the success of the 970 NVIDIA pushed it back to this year. The 960 was to follow up soon afterwards so I decided to wait since it would be its direct competition. Around that time AMD's R9 285 rolled out and I was really tempted to pick it up. Overall Review: I've been waiting for the GTX 960 to finally be rolled out by NVIDIA since my 560TI decided to up and die on me last year. Right now that's not an issue if you use the intended 1080p resolution this thing was built for. Hopefully it lasts me quite some time =)Ĭons: The only fair con for this card would be relating to the amount of memory and bandwidth equipped on all current 960s. Thank you EVGA for offering a solidly built 960. other then that its exactly has I expected it to be. coolest thing in my mATX tower (SilverStone SST-PS07B ). Pros: I'm honestly surprised it runs so cool (25c-50c).
